suha ali:

to whom it may concern,i've recently had a root canal done and after doing so my dentist assured me that the only way to go is to crown the tooth. well after doing that i've received pain, discomfort, and food getting trapped in between the two teeth. every time i mention it,he keeps convincing me that i have to cap the other tooth near it to prevent food being trapped, i tell him no. and he says then you have no choice but to deal with the discomfort of that tooth. what should i do? what other options do i have to redoing the already capped tooth in which i want to get rid of?? i no longer want any crown in my mouth i want it removed a.s.a.p!

re:

Generally back teeth that have had root canals need to be crowned. When teeth catch food between them it is usually because they aren't touching/contacting the adjacent teeth tight enough. Redoing the crown or fixing the tooth next to it should fix that problem.

It sounds like you are unhappy with your dentist however, so it might not be a bad idea to get a second opinion from another dentist in your area.
