root canal or extraction

I have a molar which had a cavity filled. Now years later I am told I need a root canal on that tooth. I also need a partial denture on the other side of my mouth. Would it be better to pull that tooth and add a tooth to the denture instead of doing the root canal?

If this is the only molar on that side, it is generally better to have the partial denture tooth supported at the end, than to have no teeth back there. If you have another molar behind it which is in very good shape, then you could extract it and add to the partial. Your dentist, who has all of your records can discuss this with you however.-ODD
